Answers to the most common questions about donating on LFX Crowdfunding.
Is there a minimum donation amount?
There is no enforced minimum for one-time donations. Monthly recurring donations must be at least $1 per month.
Do I need an account to donate?
Yes. You must be signed in with an LF ID account to complete a donation.
Are transaction fees deducted from my donation?
No. The Linux Foundation underwrites all transaction fees, so 100% of your donation goes to the initiative.
Can I donate anonymously?
LFX Crowdfunding does not currently offer a donor-selectable anonymous option. Your name and avatar will appear on the initiative's backer list. If your donor information is unavailable at the time of processing, your name will appear as Anonymous.
How do I cancel a monthly donation?
Go to My Donations on LFX, find the active subscription, and select Cancel. Cancellation takes effect immediately and you will not be charged again. See Managing Your Donations for full steps.
Can I get a refund?
Donations are processed immediately and are generally non-refundable. If you believe a charge was made in error, contact the Linux Foundation support team.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
All donations are made to the Linux Foundation, a 501(c)(6) non-profit organisation (a US non-profit category). Tax deductibility depends on your jurisdiction — consult your tax adviser.
Why was my card declined?
Common reasons include incorrect card details, insufficient funds, or a 3D Secure (an extra authentication step your bank may require) challenge that was not completed. Try re-entering your card details or contact your bank.
