What is LFX Crowdfunding?
LFX Crowdfunding is the Linux Foundation's platform for funding open source initiatives. Projects, events, and communities affiliated with the Linux Foundation can raise funds from donors and sponsors worldwide.
Do I need an account to use LFX Crowdfunding?
You can browse initiatives without an account. To donate or create an initiative, you need a free LF ID account.
Is LFX Crowdfunding free to use?
Yes. There are no platform fees for donors or project owners. The Linux Foundation underwrites all payment processing costs so 100% of donations reach the initiative.
Who manages the funds?
The Linux Foundation holds and disburses all funds. Project owners and designated beneficiaries can claim expenses through the reimbursement process. See Reimbursements for details.
What currencies are supported?
Donations are processed in USD only.
How is LFX Crowdfunding different from the legacy LFF crowdfunding?
LFX Crowdfunding is a rebuilt version of the legacy platform, integrated directly into the LFX ecosystem with improved performance, transparency, and account management through LFX Self Serve.
